• State alcoholic beverage control (ABC) agency pages, license-class definitions, application portals, and published fee schedules.
• State statutes and administrative code that define quota systems, transfers, residency, and eligibility.
• County and city offices for the local approvals, zoning, and posting or hearing steps that often precede a state decision.
• State-approved server and seller training programs where responsible-beverage-service certification is required.

Where a claim depends on an outside source, we link to a primary reference, favoring official .gov pages so you can read the rule at its source and confirm it yourself.

How we handle facts that vary by state

License classes, fees, quota rules, and processing times differ from state to state and county to county, and they change. Rather than print a single number that would be wrong somewhere, we mark a state's specific facts as verified only when we have read them directly from that state's official ABC source. For every state we have not verified yet, our guides and tools give you an honest framework and the exact questions to ask your state ABC agency instead of a guess dressed up as a fact. Our cost figures are clearly labeled budgeting ranges, not per-state quotes, and we link to each state's own fee schedule for the exact current amount.
